The invention of typewriter made it easier for people, governments, businesses to communicate
with ease by reducing the usage of writing letters, reports, balance sheet, invoice, debit
note, credit note, application, account sales, memorandum, government orders by pen.
Before the typewriter, everything had to be written by hand. If a person had poor
handwriting, it would be difficult for a message to be read and understood. Using the
typewriter increased the speed at which messages could be written. A person could type words
much faster than by writing them.
Shorthand is the art of writing using symbols or abbreviations for words and common phrases
which helps the one well trained to write as quickly as people speak. Many journalists use
shorthand writing to quickly take notes at press conferences.
The benefits of shorthand writing have enhanced its popularity in the world of business. The
skill of shorthand writing will make you land into a career of confidential secretaries,
stenographers, shorthand typists, parliamentary reporters, court reporters, journalists,
etc.,
Typewriting is the art of writing on a piece of paper by using keys on the typewriter. The first commercial Typewriters were introduced in 1874. The QWERTY keyboard layout, developed for typewriters in the 1870s, remains the standard for computer keyboards. There are two types of typewriters, they are standard typewriters and portable typewriters. Standard typewriters are nothing but the manual typewriters. Portable typewriters are the ones which are easy to carry anywhere in a small suitcase. Notable typewriter manufacturers include Remington and Sons, Alda, Facit and Godrej. The two types of typing methods are sight method and touch or blind method. The blind method is good for computer typing.
Though electronic and electrical typewriters have eliminated disadvantages of standard typewriters, the most chosen and the most preferable one is manual typewriter only. It is because of it’s justification alignment which gives equal space towards right side as well as left side.
The computers which are faster machines need a faster operator so it is advised to learn typewriting on the typewriters first in order to get that rhythmic pressure and the grip on the keys which helps to get even faster on the computer keyboard.

My journey from being a graduate to attaining a job in NIN has been very challenging. But now I became inspiration to many and I believe this is the biggest success. Apart from my degree, the typing skill made me come this far and I am thankful to my guide Sateesh Sir for encouraging me through out this journey in making me stand out among the fellow competitors.
From housewife to Senior Assistant in Government Sector was a very big journey. I worked hard to be in this position where I am now today. I owe thanks to my guide Balraju Sir who supported me in getting well trained and becoming efficient in the technical skill. I suggest everyone to have good skills to become successful in their life.
I am working as a Steno Typist in NFC, though I come from a rural background my mentor Rajeshwar Sir helped me by giving me vigorous training so that I could achieve my goal. This type of encouragement and support is very needed for the students especially for the one who come from remote areas like me lack in many things like communication skills. But after learning shorthand I could not only become proficient in that skill but was also able to improve myself in communication skill too.
Thousands of students have been placed in many government sectors like TSPSC, Health care, Education, Railways, Judicial Courts, Irrigation, Panchayati Raj, NIN, NFC, NGRI, IICT, CCMB and other private sectors.
